Just an update on PlayTV for the PS3 for those who are interested.

A UK release date of 10th September has been announced by Sony so at least it will become a reality soon.

The bad news is that we may not see it here till early 2009 as stated in the article and this appears to be what Sony NZ are saying  as well.

Good point. The software to enable PlayTV was in the 2.41 upgrade but that might not include the decode for our mpeg4 HE-AAC codec.

Whether the DVB-T  tuner standard would be the same I don't know.

I guess I'd be willing to give it a go.  I doubt the hardware will be any different on release here, so worse case is a wait for appropriate firmware.

I think PlayTV should work fine with DVB-T here considering Sony has freeview receivers built into new TV's they are releasing in NZ
