Hi All

So, I have a well setup HT system, with 1080P tv and projector.  My net streaming/dlna device is currently the cambridge audio 752BD player.

The problem I'm having now is that it wont take HEVC files, which are getting more prevalent, so I need a "cast to" device/general DLNA device that I can cast 4K files (and 1080p with HEVC) to.

I was thinking about an oppo 203, but we now have no dvd stores in Taupo so that seems pointless to get another disc player. What other devices out there exist?  I dont do any service streaming, so I'm not interested in netflix, youtube, lightbox etc etc, only downloaded titles. Basically I need an HDMI device that I can stream 4K files to, that will transcode to 1080p for the tv/projector, and can handle DTS-MA and dolbyTrueHD etc.

Because just a +1 on Gcorgnet's post isn't enough...

Just do it and thank us later.

Nope, it's the best 4K media player available at a good price. Just ignore the gaming side of it.

Cheers - N

What he said... Don't game either... but the UI is great and the HW has enough grunt to run it smoothly...

Haven't found a file it can't play yet.

OSMC Vero 4k+.

EDIT - sorry, I didn't note the cast to requirement. I don't think you can do that with OSMC/Kodi. I browse to all my files.

Don't forget you need a current enough CPU that supports Quick Sync to deal with transcoding the HEVC files too.

That would work fine too.  step up from a fire stick type of arrangement?

I would say so, provided you are happy just running Kodi, which OSMC does extremely well. I had a Roku for Netflix, but I prefer media players over streaming devices.

The Vero 4k+ will play UHD HEVC HDR rips without any issues.

The device playing or transcoding the file must support hevc playback, as opposed to the device displaying it.

Excellent choice. I will be getting another in the near future.

Shipping from the UK is usually pretty quick, so you shouldn't have to wait long.
