So I jumped and got that new BD player, plumped for the Sony x700 as the price was too good to miss.

Anyway so far it’s a great player but.. I have lost my avr OSD when watching through the BDP. I don’t have 4k enabled as I have not got a 4k tv yet.

Avr is marantz sr5007.

Any suggestions ?

You'll either need a device that drops the resolution for now, or the version of HDCP...

OR

Try dropping the output resolution on the Blu-ray player itself.

Will try dropping the resolution of th BDP I’m only able to show 1080p on the tv and projector anyway at the moment..

Do more modern amps cope with 4k and OSD for controls ?

Some do - but not all!

For instance, many allow the GUI to work for 4K videos, but not when Dolby Vision is being passed through the AVR from a compatible Blu-ray player... they never mention that in the marketing blurb either!
