Hi all,

Would be great if you could guys can shed some light.
Using Vista Media Centre
Hauppauge HVR3000 Tuner Card
Vidoe Card - ATI

I have my sky running via S-Video to the ATI Card
Sound is via Digital from my amp to the Intel motherboard

Watching movies/music works a teat.

Its just sky that i have no sound.

Have i done something wrong or do i need to run components from the sky box to the amp as well?

cheers

A s-video cable only carries video, not audio therefore you should not have any audio with your setup as mentioned above.

The HVR3000 has a s-video input and an audio input. I am assuming you are plugging the Sky s-video cable into this (and not the ATI card like you mention in your post), you also need to run an audio cable from the Sky box into the HVR3000.

Running a cable from the Sky box to the amp is not recommended as there will be a delay in the video processing and audio will be out of sync.

Hi Sbiddle! thanks for that - you were right, it been awhile since i last looked at it.
S-Video into the Hauppauge
Plug it in the components from Sky into the card and wallah, we've got sound!

How come there is no program guide/epg while watching sky? is there a fix for it?

cheers

Which program guide are you referring to?  If you are watching Sky via the Analogue tuner in your card then you will need to use the Sky Guide from your Sky remote.
