So, my FIL got himself a nice new TV for Xmas. The issue seems to be with the Ethernet port. I have it connected to a Gigabit switch, but potentially with 100Mbit cabling and the switch sees a 100Mbit link, but the TV itself says it has no wired LAN connection.

I have a feeling the ethernet port on this is only 100Mbit, not Gigabit, but should still be working.

Is anyone able to confirm what speeds the port on this TV supports? Sony Manuals don't specify, Sony support had no idea what an ethernet port was, they kept calling it an internet port.

Pretty sure they're only Fast Ethernet. I'm not aware of any TVs at present with Gigabit ports.

Yep as Steve says, not seen any tellies with Gig ports simply no justification.

Figured as much but thought I'd better check as I am having ethernet issues with this new tv.

If it was Gbit only then that would have explained it. More troubleshooting ahead by the looks.

Is there an ethernet OFF/ON setting somewhere in the Settings menus?

Not that I can see. Not to mention that the switch sees a 100MBit connection.

Maybe try taking the switch out of the equation and connect TV direct to router?  Could be a good test?

There must be a setting somewhere ... even my cheapo tv has a setting for network connection. I'd check that first.

Well it's sorted. Apparently he didn't patch it correctly somehow.
