Hi all

I'm trying to get a better picture on my CRT TV. It has component inputs as well as composite. I have a 6200AGP card that has s-video (7-pin) and DVI outputs but didn't come with any cable converters. Am currently running 4 pin s-video to RCA composite ok.

I bought a DVI-component cable from Trademe but couldn't get a picture, even after trying lots of different Nvidia drivers. I'm guessing I needed to use a converter rather than just a straight cable.

In order to avoid wasting anymore money+time, could someone answer this: would a 7pin S-video to three RCA component adaptor work? This one in particular... http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=167683030

If it helps, the TV is a Panasonic TX32F500 that is supposedly 1080i capable

Thanks for any help

Can you provide us the exact video card you are using as it will depend on that.

I know that some video cards can output component but not all.

DVI-> component cables will only work if your video card is compatible with such a cable and I believe this is more of an ATI feature rather than an NVidia one.

IMHO a s-video output is about as good as you will get with a CRT TV, you certainly can't expect to get a stunning picture from a CRT. I wouldn't expect the s-video to component cable to really offer anything better than s-video -> s-video.

Thanks for replies

The card is an Albatron Trinty GeForce 6200, 128Mb. Passive and low profile. DVI/TV-out/D-Sub. I'm not expecting it to support component ...

The TV does not have DVI inputs. But does have a 4 pin S-video + RCA option. It has got to be better than my 4-pin s-video to component cable.
