I’ve treated myself to a new TV. I normally always have my tellys on the wall. I brought a massive 75 inch TV without considering the wall bracket.

After pondering what I wanted to do - I bought bracket online. I made the mistake of buying a 400x400 Vesa bracket. Rated for the weight of the TV and size, but the wrong bloody size!

My TV needs a 400x600. After some googling, and confusing threads I need to know if vesa adaptation is even a thing. I would prefer not to spend another $300+ on a bracket if you can get an adaptor?

Am I even making sense?

I wouldn't have spent $300 on a bracket to begin with.. is it full motion tilt? or fixed? There are ones that go up to 100" (fixed) for about $125+GST retail - here it is for $82 from PBTech https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/MOABRA0163/Brateck-LP37-69F-X-Large-60-100-Fixed-Bracket-Max

Nope you dont seem to be making sense to me.

Why not just go back to the shop and exchange it for a bigger one?

Adaptors are a thing, but they aren't easy to find. The last time I adapted one, to make a larger TV fit a small bracket in a private hospital, I ended up buying a complete new VESA mount and attaching the larger plate to the original VESA mount using whatever screws I happened to have sitting around that fit.

Assuming you haven't already installed the bracket, I'd just buy a new one. It's a lot less hassle.

VESA is a great idea, but it's far from a complete standard. TVs have the holes all over the place (from near the bottom to near the top), so any time you change TVs you probably should be buying a bracket that suits your specific requirements. I.e. Expect to be putting more holes in the wall.

Cheap / low profile mounts are great.

Cheap pivoting brackets tend to be sag-fests that make you wish you spent a little bit more...

YMMV, but there are some fairly crappy pieces of engineering out there, even for something so simple!

Yes.
My 65 oled is lighter than my 2009 LCD 46 inch !!

I'm planning on using the same bracket when I put the oled on the wall..
