Fellow mammals, lend me your rears...

Anybody had any listening experience with this combo or Q Acoustics in general? They are on sale at a few places (3050 $999, 3090c $349, plus free shipping), but none near me so can't really audition them.

I have been looking at getting some decent mid-range towers and have been leaning towards the Klipsch reference premiere range after auditioning some RP-280f's and being sold on the Klipsch sound. But I am a sucker for a deal and I can't help but wonder if the Klipsch's are THAT much better than a tower + center combo plus a several hundred dollars in savings towards a sub.

Usage is going to be a mix of home theatre and audio (more weighted to the home theater though) and will eventually add a half-decent sub later on.

I couldn't imagine buying speakers without A+B'ing them...

What part of the world are you in?

I say that because I've heard speakers that people rave about, but have found them to be utter craptastic when I got to listen to them. In fact, I've had my heart set on one particular brand / model (Monitor Audio), only to have a complete 180 moment when they were A/B'd with the speakers next to them. It wasn't even a closely run race! We level matched, we toe'd them in, we did everything... and basically, I had to walk away and re-adjust my thoughts.

Looking at the Q's vs the big Klipsch you're considering... in a standard sized room you could almost argue that a sub would be far less important with the Klipsch than the more 'lifestyle' sized Q Acoustics.

Of course - you neeeeeeeed to listen to them both to compare.

Yeah, fair point. I was wondering if some opinions would convince me to give them a punt, but I guess the price will not matter if it sounds like poos to my ears.

Although I see Harvey Norman are selling the newer model, but next size down Klipsch for a pretty good price:

Might have to go and have a listen...
