The sound I get on my standard (new) Pace STB is so bad that even the crappiest FM station blows it away (and I have no FM aerial plugged in lol). Im sure its not the STB causing the problem either....

The music channels are a write off and everything else is tinny, bass-less and quiet... :(

Does the new HD service or STBs do anything to improve this and if not, is there anything else one can do to actually get something wortth hearing out of Sky??

Im using a single cable that has scart -----> component video & audio RCA. Audio is going in to Pioneer AV receiver.

Cheers

Yes, I agree the sound is pretty bad due to compression, although playing it via my HT receiver is an improvement in some areas  you hear much more sibilance than out of small TV speakers.

I adjust the tone down on the HF side which mitigates this a bit.

Yeah Ive got it going in to my pioneer with big speakers and it just sounds awful compared to everything else. Real quiet and tinny

Has anyone here noticed an improvement with the new HD mysky or even the regular mysky over the standard STBs?

Any other tricks or will I keep having to adjust the volume & bass when switching between sources?
