More and more DivX compatible DVD players seem to be around now... Harvey Normans has a Philips one for $60 atm.....

Im a bit confused though....  because its DivX certified, will anything I have that is in Xvid format AVI run on these players ? Ive never kept up with video formats etc to be honest hence my query.... :P

Thanks :)

Not always, but mostly yeah, divxs and xvids off the net will play, but be prepared to deal with their incredible inability to handle non square pixel ratios, and random files which will not play past certain points. Shame they are about 4 years too late with it.

mind you, the "scene" still releases things broken into 700 meg files in the outdated codec so there is still a use for them if your not into downloading psp/ipod sized things in a more current codec.
