Hi guys
Have a PS3, Bravia W Series integrated tuner Freeview TV and in about 5 minutes, a working MySky HDi box, all audio run through my home theatre system. Home theatre only has 1 optical audio in connection. I am thinking it unlikely but, is there a splitter type connector that would allow me to plug both my PS3 AND the optical audio out from My SkyHDi (or alternatively from my TV into the home theatre, getting optical audio from Freeview at the same time). or am I doomed to replacing the plugs every time I use a different device? Any assistance greatly appreciated!

Does your home threatre have a coaxial in? I'm running mysky hdi through that. The out on the mysky unit is next to optical.

Unfortunately not - just several analogue inputs and the optical audio in input. The home theatre system is about 5-6 years old now - was the top of the line Sony system then but a little dated now I suspect.

Do you get anything on the optical out of the tv when you use the hdmi input? Probarbly all the anti-copying crap stops it but if there is then just use the hdmi to the tv for both mysky and ps3.

Will give that a go when I get the chance later today - thanks for the suggestion. Like you I imagine it might not work but will give it a try anyway.

If thats a non powered selector, then be very careful to keep your reciept as I had one for a while and it was constantly having dropouts on the audio - switching to a powered remote controllable joytech av switch solved it. - and they go quite cheap on trademe used since people are upgrading to ones with hdmi and component on them.

Just an update for those that may have a similar issue to me (which is now solved thanks to you guys):

I purchased the Jaycar option which looks just to be a mechanical option (i.e. pipes and a selector to divert the light down one or the other) but it works great so now have PS3 audio through home theatre, MySkyHDi through home theatre and the Freeview from my integrated tuner TV through the home theatre. Have thoroughly tested all today and all are working fine with no problems (though I will take the advice proffered here and retain receipt in case of future problems.)

The expensive powered options were quite large as they included a number of video options that I didnt need. They did however have a remote control so I will have to move to the Jaycar box to change it manually, but hey, I could do with the exercise now and then!

Thanks all and a note for those with integrated tuner TVs - if you have problems with the solution here, just remember to change the output from the speakers to external audio output. Sounds simple, but was a bit of a pain finding the appropriate setting on my Bravia.
