every solution on google tells you how to do a factory reset.

I just need to restart an app, or reboot the TV.

Is that not possible?

If it uses electricity to power the TV, you could just switch the power outlet off or pull the plug

If anything goes wrong I just turn TV off and on using remote.

Seems to clear applic data, and turning TV on and off is what need to do to install new firmware after download.

I guess it depends which app you’re talking about. If it’s something discretionary like Netflix, can’t you just delete the app then re-download and install it? Might be more difficult with built-in LG apps/bloatware.

I like all these creative solutions but it turns out nobody knows how to reboot a WebOS!

I have sometimes had network problems with Apps like Netflix on mine. Only solution I have found is to pull the power cable out the back for a few seconds...

It might help if you said which app you want to restart.

It sounds like you haven't actually tried pulling the plug to see if that helps.

Pull the plug and then hold the power button on the TV for a few seconds. Let go of the power button, plug back in and profit. This is as close to a reboot as I can figure out.

Heh you won't believe it, I did that, and as according to the internet, it does not reboot the tv.

I've tried it a few times, pressed the power button to drain the capacitors etc

It just resumes from the previous state.

All the apps are in the exact state.

I also turned of fast boot from the settings, by the way, that was the first thing I did.

ok for some reason just turning it off and on works now.

did not touch anything other than deleted and reinstalled app.

pulling the plug must have done something.

also remember to keep the "fast reboot" option off.
