HI all,

believe it or not, I got few of those flying ants in between the TV screen layers

I never thought something like this is even possible...

watch this: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/tbez4co9y1k7sh5/AACqTgsBRJh_aMX00w0a0RMua?dl=0

TV is Panasonic TH-55CS650Z approx 4 years old. This only happened recently, no issues before. Initially I thought is a dead pixel and I was convinced that I have to live with that... but next day there was another one, and at close inspection... it started to move.

Would you see this as a reason to consider the screen "failed"? Could manufacturer look into this?

Anyone ever heard of something like this? Is there a solution?

Thank you.

Could try to lure them out?  (but then you may attract more to come)!

Maybe put the TV under blanket and place in a sunny spot?

Such a lifelike screen saver..... ;)

Our Panasonic is about 9 years old and not had any infestations :D Give Panasonic a call and see what they say, wont hurt.

I have no technical knowledge of screen construction but I would thought have that a TV screen would be sealed and that this would/should be impossible to happen > CGA claim.

Had a similar thing happen to me with a 15” LCD computer monitor. Except it was only a single very tiny ant. And it eventually decided to leave by itself.

How cold is the room that the TV is kept in? As I'm guessing that the ants are going inside it to get warm.

Used to be a common problem with rear projection TVs, but never heard of it in an LCD - would've thought the front glass and LCD panel would be hard against each other

Try and figure out what they’re watching - and stop playing that show.

Had the same issue with my Sony 32. All I can say is dont tap on it no matter what. Luckily it was just a 32 incher for me which now has a dead smudge bang in the middle. Wife was not impressed :)

That’s nothing ;-)
In my repair days , I removed dozens of mice , and once had a live rat hiding behind a power supply cage. Thought something moved so I hit the power supply top with my screwdriver and the rat jumps out and ran downstairs , kids and mother screaming !

Manufacturers won’t cover for this, nor will insurance (according to an ep of fair go with an insect damaged heat pump)

You're not on Atlantis anymore, Duncan Idaho.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

I had the same problem a few years back, as the TV was quite new, it was replaced with a new one.

I can understand that for a heat pump (especially if it’s the outdoor part) - but a TV? Surely it shouldn’t be possible for insects to get inside the layers of a TV screen. Manufacturers may disclaim this but what about CGA?

Maybe you pick up the TV to move it, and it slips from your hands.

That sort of accident is covered by insurance.

So you mean that if you drop it, all the ants will get shaken out and then all will be well?
