In the past I've used a number of Asus motherboards with NVidia chipsets that provided analogue video out

For example the M2NPV-VM has DVI, VGA, Component, Composite and SVideo ouput.

These boards make for a very flexible HTPC setup. Has anyone seen some recent motherboards with HDMI output as well as Composite/SVideo, or even better with Componenbt as well?

I setup many systems with M2A-VM HDMI always seemed to go okay of course its not as new now still worked fine!

I'll be building a system with the ASUS M3N78-EMH HDMI (pconlineshop sell it for about $140 or so) in a couple of weeks if you want I can report back on how I found it.

I recently used an ABIT board with a newer chipset and all the goods but it was terrible (hours worth of issues) so recommend staying with ASUS for the whole integrated board setup.

I have the ASUS M3N78-EMH HDMI - it leaves a lot to be desired in terms of features for a mediacentre compared to similar models. It replaced a similar 8200 XFX motherboard which is almost the same price but the northbridge heatsink obstructs the PCI-E slot so my tuner wouldn't fit.
Comparing the two the first things i noticed is that the Asus is missing Firewire, Coax and Optical audio and a couple of fan connectors (asus only has 2), whereas the XFX has all of these + more. I was a bit disappointed and have to pay $10 more to get a SP/DIF bracket for sound.

I dont think you will see any boards with it - I was looking for one with 1080i component out since I have a CRT that will take it, came up with nothing, hdmi to component converter would be my next suggestion, but they are not cheap.

We have a few M2A-VM-HDMI boards in the office, they definently have 1080i component support. Board isnt the newest with the 690G chipset but hey its only about $90-$100 bucks at the moment.

dont you need an add-in card in one of the slots to get the 1080i component on these boards? or was that the giga-byte board?

Not sure... I mainly use it with DVI to large LCD's but I'll see if I can borrow the machine sometime and plug it into a tele and find out. I know the onboard card is supposed to support AVIVO (so should do H.264 in GPU instead of CPU) but I've never tested.

It comes with an add-in card that fits into the pcie slot to give you the component video, hdmi ports I think that what seperates it from the M2A-VM everything else is the same.

note that it consumes your only pcix16 slot on the motherboard so dont plan on using that port for anything else!

the onboard video is the Radeon X1250 which supposedly supports h.264 hardware acceleration

Looks like an afterthought to include it IMO, that minidin jack could have gone on the backplane.

If I go with that, inorder to get the size down of the machine I will have to find a PCIe 16 right angle riser, which last time I looked would cost more then the motherboard.
