I have just had my cataract operation on both eyes and was looking forward to watching Avatar in 3D on my LG 55LA 6230 2013 TV through a PS3 2009, sadly it wouldn't  play in 3D PS3 was telling me I needed a 3D player.
So am I expecting to much from this older 3D stuff I appreciate that 3D is now discontinued, but there must be a way to watch this older technology?

The TV should do 3D and the PS3 should do 3D as well in 3D Bluray Movies and some games.

Make sure its enabled in your TV Settings as the TV has to identify itself..

See: https://www.lg.com/nz/support/product-help/CT20186014-1428019442220-3d-quality-troubleshooting

and reverse it to enable it.

Also make sure you have updated the PS3 with the latest firmware  as 3D support for the PS3 was not enabled until 3.50 firmware which is really old but if its never been connected it won't have it.
