I have a GA-MA78GM-S2H motherboard and have no problems connecting to my late model Philips LCD TV via HDMI.

I also have a HD3450 graphics card
that has DVI, S-Video & VGA output which I'd hoped to add to the system to take advantage of hybrid crossfire mode in Vista.

I find if I install the card with latest drivers, the Catalyst Control Centre will only recognise the TV as a standard analogue when connected using the onboard HDMI port. (I haven't tried output to TV from the card ports as I don't have the cables and presumably it means a separate audio cable is required also)

Can the onboard HDMI port be used when a discrete graphics card is installed?
If so, how can I get CCC to recognise the LCD TV correctly when connected via the onboard HDMI port?

NB, I dual boot XP and Vista and have had no success with either OS. Any help would be appreciated.

have you tried pluging the TV into the add on card (Via DVI-> HDMI adaptor if it doesn't do HDMI)

Thanks Kiwi, I haven't tried an adapter as I assume I'll need to run a sound cable also which seemed unnecessarily messy.

I thought the hybrid crossfire would be a good way of boosting an already pretty reasonable IGP board but there is virutally no info around re setup and what there is suggests it isn't especially simple or successful.

I think I may just put my $ towards a more upmarket discrete card instead of pursuing the hybrid crossfire.

it would seem that you should be able to use them together based on that

Yes, it seems it should work. Most of the threads I've come across seem to point to problems with the catalyst drivers and/or earlier BIOS versions. However I ended up with a dead board trying to flash using @Bios supplied on the Gbyte driver disc so I'm not in a hurry to try on the replacement.
