Can anyone tell me where to find some information detailing/showing how to correctly hook up all the cables that come from the VCD/front panel?

The instructions that came with the case are a bit limited, and do not detail/show how to connect the card additional card reader that came with the case...

Otherwise, is there anyone in Wellington/LH/UH that would be able to show me, help me correctly hook this unit up?

I am being pedantic and want to do it right first time, and this is my first ever build.

I appreciate ya trying to help, but you have only posted links to the most obvious which I already knew, and as ya pointed out, it has nothing about hooking up the card reader so its not really of help to me

Maybe I will take some pics and note the cables, someone will know where they connect here surley.

The card reader is just a USB plug. Connect it to one of you USB headers and you will be away.

I am being pedantic and want to do it right first time, and this is my first ever build.

If I remember correctly you have a 20/24pin power adapter with a small two wire on/off wire that should go to the motherboard header and also be joined with the case on/off switch.

The USB header, is eay as well but trial and error will tell you if it is working. My PC lists the card reader as 4 different usb drives on bootup, and in Windows I have 4 different removable drives.

I would say the best way to test this is the get the remote working for power on/off and then install Windows and see if the remoavle drives show up, if not change the usb cable around and see how it goes. trial and error. You sholdn't break anything by get anything wrong.

Do you find the case fans quite noisy?
I just have 1x 8mm Silverstone case fan at the back of the computer running and i think its too loud, i was thinking of either adding in a resister or connecting up both rear case fans in parellel so they would run at half speed.

HTPC / Home automation (home assistant) enthusiast.

I don't but I have never run one at a time. I have a splitter so they both run off the same motherboard plug. My silverstone fans are all rated at about 21 decibel which is pretty quite. I have 2 x 92's in there as well at the front which do use resistors.

Otherwise when TV, Music, Videos are playing I can't hear any of the 6 fans in the case. When the house is silent I get a very very slight hum, but I also have a 3 x 120mm fan homeserver in the lounge as well and I am not bothered by either of them.

Now th flashy blue lights...that is another story

thanks, i have just pulled apart the system, i now have 2x system fans running on 5V (instead of 12V) and they are a lot quieter.

The system fans suck outside air into the case and blow the air onto the cpu/northbridge

Then i have the enermax 535W quiet PSU sucking air from inside the case and expelling it outside the case.

Since I have system fans on suck and PSU on blow do you think i will get enough cooling for the harddrive.

The other option i guess is to have both the PSU and System fans at the back of the case sucking air from inside the case and expelling air out the back. This would mean that air would be passively drawn from the front of the case through to the back. Would this be better?

Can't say I have ever tested the rear fans sucking into the case.

I have:
2 x 80mm rear fans and 1 x 80x15mm right side fan blowing out of the case.
620w PSU is sucking with 120mm fan from left side out to rear.
2 x 92mm front fans with resistors sucking into the case, these cool the HDD but that is added benefit I suppose as not planned. Front fans are partially blocked by VFD as well.

S939 3800+ X2 CPU under load in 20 degree house is at 38 degrees with TT Ultima 90 cooler and 80mm or 92mm fan (I can't remember which size it is).

8600GT GPU running Freeview HD is at 62 degrees with silent Zalman VNF100 cooler (it fits past the BD-ROM whereas the MSI default silent cooler doesn't). I have seen the GPU hit 67 degrees running folding@home via GPU. Note the Zalman VNF100 is not rated for cooling the 8600GT but it works for me. Temp went up 4 degrees compared to the old 7600GT.

Passively cooled northbridge sits below GPU cooler and CPU cooler and gets to about 58 degrees max.

Summer increases these temps as house can be 30 degrees. But all are still well within working specs.

p.s. and the rest of the case is stacked with 74GB Raptor sys drive, 250gb recording drive, BDRom, Auzentech X-Meridian 7.1 surround, Nova-t-500 TV Tuner. so on the m-atx Asus a8n-vm-csm motherboard it is full.

wow that seems like a lot of fans. but then again i dont know much about computers as this is the first computer i have built in a long time. i have found that my psu seems to be the noisiest part, which is suprising because the enermax 535w psu is supposed to be a very quiet one.

i have no discovered that my HD receiver is the next loudest device so i am pulling it apart and figuring out how to make it quieter.

I have the two AcoustiFans blowing out the back of the case and the power supply inverted so that it is also drawing air out of the inside of the case. That seems to be enough to keep the 8500GT cool which is a passive card. It also means that cool air is drawn over the HDD's which are in line with the CPU.
I did have them on the other side but found that created a dead air zone and they tended to get quite hot.

I blocked off the vent on the side of the case by the CPU so that the air has to come from the front.

The the case in that setup is about as loud as the fan in the TV which is fine.
