We got MySky HDi the other day and it's been awesome so far.  Last night I decided to record a Box Office movie at 7:35pm.  I went into the Box Office thing and found the session I wanted and pressed (R) to record it.  I put my PIN number in and the Planner said it was to be recorded.  All good.

Today I go to watch the movie and it says I'm not authorised to view the content (error C011).  I rang the SKY number in the HDi manual 0800 759 007 and got a tech on the line.  I explained the situation and he said I was doing it wrong.  He reckoned I should book the movie, wait until it starts to confirm that it's working and then press (R) to record it.  He claimed that the session I was booking was finishing so it wouldn't work even though I booked it at around 6pm.  Also my planner says it recorded 144 mins taking up 3% of space.  I got a bit frustrated because he wouldn't actually listen to me and kept repeating his method.

I went back to the Box Office to book another session starting today at 3:35pm and it said that the session was already booked.  I thought maybe it's picking up the previous recording.  I tried this a few times and got the same error.  Then something weird happened.  I got an LNB error message for a few seconds claiming poor weather for a signal problem (it's a cloudless, sunny day here).  I went back to re-book the movie (using the exact steps in the manual again) and lo, it let me book it this time.  So I wonder if they fixed it remotely?

How does everyone else book Box Office movies on My Sky?

I've just moved from Digital to HDi myself. I never really trusted the Box Office booking system after getting a couple wierd things like what happened to you - I haven't tried it on HDi yet.

Mostly I just get a DVD out from the shop now. At least I know I haven't wasted my $6 (unless the movie is crap!).

Don't forget none of the Box Office movies are being shown in HD (yet?) so you might get better picture quality via DVD.

I had the same problem last month with a movie via the standard decoder.  Called Sky after the 2nd failed attempt.  They said it was because I had not used the service for several months and the decoder needed them to do a reset from their end.  Since then it's been OK..

I think the key thing is the "reset" which seemed to coincide with my call and then it all magically working.  I just wish the CSR had taken some steps to disagnose the problem instead of just telling me I'm doing it wrong.

Incidentally, I re-booked the movie yesterday using the exact same method and it worked perfectly.  Now, the only issue I have to Box Office is the stupid 24 hour rule.  I would have though 48 hours would give you a bit more flexibility especially since you can't record BO movies to DVD for later viewing.

Agreed.  I suspect that it's a requirement of the content providers as it seems to be the same the world over,.. 24hours from first play..

The bizarre thing is with Sky Digital, I could record the movie to DVD without any trouble and keep it for as long as I like.

I noticed that the other day.

Also, we were looking at the On Demand movies late Thursday (About Midnight) and there was a movie they had listed we wanted to watch but was showing as expiring in 12 hours.

We didnt want to watch the movie until the following evening (We had friends coming over for a movie night) and so I thought I would record it to the DVD/HDD Recorded.

During the booking process a message on screen showed that the movie would be available for viewing for 24 hours from the time of purchase. Nice I thought, we can just book it now and watch it tomorrow night anyway.

I decided to record it anyway just in case we didnt end up watching it in time, however the recorded advised me it was unable to record as the content was copy protected.

So we left it thinking we would still be able to watch it the following night as the screen had advised 24 hours viewing time.

However come 12pm Friday (12 hours after booking) the movie expired and was removed from On Demand - meaning we had paid for a movie we could no longer now watch.

I rang Sky, after speaking to her supervisor, the CSR informed me that On Demand works differently to Box Office, and that the '24 Hour' message was incorrent and should have never been shown. They did however give me a credit however.
