Whats the easiest card to setup and best performance card that ppl would recommend for a Mythtv type setup? For Freeview over Satellite - would be great if a single card had 2 tuners in it that could be used @ the same time. I see the Haup 4000 (?) or similar has 2 tuners but under Linux only one can be used at a time?

Not quite how it works, the HVR3000 & HVR4000 are both hybrids tuners capable of 3 (DVB-T, DVB-S, analogue) and 4 (DVB-T, DVB-S, DVB-S2, analogue) types of broadcast respectively. However they only have a single tuner and hence can only from one of those options at a time. This isn't a limitation of MythTV, they behave like this with PVR software.
 
As far you options for mythtv goes, I am afraid there isn't a dual tuner option at all. The only dual DVB-S tuners in the market at PCI-e and to my knowledge no PCI-e tuner is supported under Linux as drivers for the PCI-e bridges (such as the Philips/NXP PCIe bridge in the HVR2200)) have not been written yet.

So what to get? The Nova S is a very well supported affordable solution. If you want extra flexibilty for a bit more money the HVR3000 means you can go to DVB-T in the future. The other option is Technotrend cards; this guy is a good choice for hardware supported under Linux and he sells the Technotrend S-1401 DVB-S Card.

cool thanks for the tips.

I've ended up ordering the Technotrend S-1401 DVB-S Card from the nicegear site, so will slap that in & see if I can get it all working in my old NAS box. Then take it from there, maybe get a 3000 or 4000 card @ a later date once I get the basics working.
