Hi Guys

I finally got my home theatre set up on Friday.

I have a 50" Panasonic Plasma (with Freeview built in), a Yamaha RXV 863 Amp/Receiver and Klipsch Speakers.

I am over the moon with it, the picture is STUNNING and the sound is great as well.

There is just one issue when playing DVDs. The dialogue is very low and we have to turn the receiver's voume up quite a lot to hear what the actors etc are saying. THis then makes the other sounds even louder as well. Is there a way to get the dialugue turned up at all?

Thanks in advance

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I'm playing DVDs on my PS3.

Oh, and also, when playing them on the PS3 the 1080i input changes to 576 - is that right? Still loooks great, but I find it strange that it changes?

Have you set the PS3 to 5.1 audio (not sure if thats an option as I dont have one!).  Are you getting anything out of the centre speaker?

I went into the audio settins on the PS3 and the only options iirc were stereo and not.

There may well be another option somewhere I didn't look.

Yeah the centre speaker is working.

Some Yamaha Receivers have a sound field function called Dialog Lift, which allows you raise the level of any of RF, C or LF speakers.

OK thanks - I'll have a look for that.

You can set the PS3 to upscale DVDs.  I'd think it'd stay at 1080i then.  Have you run through the Display/Audio setup on the PS3?  Are you connected with HDMI to the receiver?  It should pick up all the audio formats your receiver can handle.  Not that it helps your problem...

I thought I had done the setup for the PS3, but will have another look tonight when I get in.

Yeah I'm using HDMI connection.

Have you used the MIC that came with the receiver and gone through the automatic speaker setup?
