Hi

This is probably a silly question but does a motherboard with HDMI inbuilt, do BOTH sound and vision?

The few I have played with (all 690G and 790G based chipsets) do. This doesn't mean that they all do however.

What are you wanting to output via HDMI?

I would like to output both sound and vision via HDMI.

Not really into the 5.1 thing so the connection will be from the motherboard to the Bravia TV.

Many do.
Be aware that if you planned on running HD h264 content (eg Blu Ray or Freeview HD) using onboard video, its highly likely you will run into problems (lag, stuttering, green screens, or difficulty setting up. So far the best one has been Intel's G45 chipset i think.
