I'm just changing my living room set up as I just got a 40V4000. Unfortunately the current RG6 cable I have is too short for the new set up so what I've done is I swapped this cable over with the one used for my TCL cable modem which I've had since 2003.

Surely TCL cables are decent? I will eventually get an appropriate replacement such as a Belden quad shield or something but in the mean time, can I do this?

TCL use tri shield, Sky use dual, dont loose any sleep over it, they both have the same attenuation/freq charactersistic, just different levels of sheilding, Sky dont require as much. Sky specify a steel cored copper clad centre conductor with a gel flooded sheath, I cannot remember if the TCL trishield is also steel cored, however I would not worry about this, this requirement is simply to make it more bullet proof during installation.

Unless you have lost lots of signal (check your signal status page in the STB), just stay with the TCL cable. Only word of warning, dont use any splitters supplied by TCL for Sat Lband as they normally only use 900MHz rated splitters which are no good for Sat LBand.
