AC3Filter.

Mostly likely everything else is downmixing to stereo.

The fact it appears to be an issue on multiple players would indicate the probelm lies with the settings of your audio card. Has this always been an issue? Or started after some Windows or driver update? Have you double checked the audio card settings?

Are you only using SPDIF or both SPDIF and normal jacks?

I have the same soundcard and found I had to set SPDIF to default before it would output 5.1 etc. Before that as you say it would output sound but only in stereo.

Sorry also if you are using the latest drives which support decoding you must turn decoding off. You want the raw stream passed though not a decoded stream. Your amp will do the decoding.

I'm using both, the jack outputs to the TV, the SPDIF to the amp.
Ive disabled decoding in the SB Console.

Where did you set SPDIF to default?? ('digital output on' in the MS volume options??)

you on vista?

I've heard there are issues with SPIDIF and Stereo connectors on vista, you have to do some wierd work around to get it going.

If you're using Vista it explains everything.

You can't have simultaneous SPDIF and analog if you want 5.1

Yes and No.. you can't have 5.1 feeding out though your amp in 5.1 and your speakers in stereo but for me I have it set so that stereo plays though the TV speakers and 5.1 plays though the amp depending on what the source is which works fine for me.
