I bought a JVC CD Mini System on discount so I could play my CDs and have a backup set of bluetooth speakers. Overall it's okay but I cannot get my PC to connect to it via bluetooth. My Android phone connects fine, but when connecting via Windows 10 it appears as an audio headset and not an audio speaker, and trying to play anything through it causes programs to lock up and Windows explorer to freeze.

It appears on the bluetooth device list as JCM15072018BK. I'm wondering if they reboxed car audio parts that are designed for smartphones only? Anyone have thoughts on this?

You'll need to find the bluetooth version of the PC chipset and functions supported.

Different versions have different capabilities. For instance my BT dongle, only supports file transfer due to it's age (BT1-2). It was only later that phonebook live, phonebook store, audio etc come out. Early for PCs the focus was phone/headset handsfree and data transfer

From memory V3 was where streaming was added, V4+ mobiles include for low economy power and so on.

Bump. Still not sure what I'm meant to do or if anything can be done.

Loaf did you ever find a way to get the speaker to work? I've just got myself the same system and can't get it to work as a bluetooth speaker.

Sadly not. Coincidentally I decided to look into this today and I've contacted JVC to find out what the issue is.

I really like this system but I feel like I've been mislead a bit if it can't connect via bluetooth to something as simple as a laptop. If they admit it is a design issue then I might push for a refund tbh.

I've got about 3 BT speakers, and none will connect to any laptop I've ever had, or if they do say they're connected, they wont play sound. Its something in the BT protocols that causes it.

Most BT speakers are geared more towards phones/tablets.

I don't know anything about BT protocols or how that works. Is it theoretically possible to have a utility to connect to a speaker from a PC if it doesn't support connection by default?

Heya,

I've got the same microsystem audio and I have tried three different Windows 10 devices and they connect to successfully but won't play any audio.

The Bluetooth speaker shows as Hands-Free AG Audio (Headset) and I can't get it to work. I have played around disabling the Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator and Microsoft Bluetooth LE Enumerator (found it somewhere on the internet), with no luck. I tried using different generic drivers on both Bluetooth, Audio and Sound devices in Device Manager. Still, no luck. My Android phone works fine.

@Loaf, have JVC get back to you yet?

Cheers

Thats weird because I have 3 laptops and all will connect and play to all my bluetooth speakers just fine. No idea what they pair as because I have just paired them up and when it connects audio comes out the bluetooth speaker.

Not good audio. But audio at least. My old add on USB device would support apt-x and popped up a little message to tell me when it was using it, but all the intel onboard stuff just seems to use SBC at quite a low bitrate to anything I have tried. Even used one laptop in the car because with a 3.5mm cable and a car laptop charger it had horrid alternator whine.

There is no official support still. JVC ignored my emails.

The only workaround I can think of is to buy one of those wifi streaming apps. You then send sound from your laptop, to your phone, which is connected to the speaker via bluetooth.

There are free apps that do this but they are kind of junky. Haven't tried the paid apps.

I was curious about this but I suspect its the JVC and not Windows.

Ive got a Panasonic PM250 mini system that has bluetooth. I paired this to my Windows 10 laptop and it worked just fine.

Note: I did have to switch the audio output in Windows (via the taskbar speaker icon) to the Panasonic as it didnt automatically switch to it when it connected.

Thank you, guys.

That's right, I sus that it is a JVC fault rather than Windows, since my laptop connects fine to other devices. Even, I took my laptop to my car and connected to my stereo successfully. It is this particular device that won't connect.

Have you guys had any trouble with volume?

I have mine set to the FM function and sometimes when I turn it on, the volume is excessive. For example, today I had volume set to about 10 which was fine. Then I turned it off for an hour, and when I turned it on again it was so loud I practically had a heart attack. I swear my ear is ringing from it. Now it's on 6 and it sounds okay, but there is some kind of anomaly with the volume. It's like it turns itself up while it is on standby?

Just another thing wrong with this. I might take mine back, I think it's still within warranty.

I finally took mine out of the box and have the same volume problem on FM.

This means it won't be suitable for the use I intended but at that price I doubt I'll bother returning it.
