I have a PS3 with some movies/video files that I would like to move to another drive, as I think the PS3 is failing,  I know its old tech but it works for me.
If I remove the drive is it possible to access the files from another method to transfer to another drive.
Or can it be done with say a PS4?

What are the files?  How were they made?  Did you download them from the PS Online service?  If it's the latter then they should be available in the cloud to download to a new device.  They'll be DRM'd though so copying to other storage or trying to view direct from a removed drive won't work.
