I have one also but don't use it as a media player now since I bought Popcorn Hour. The PS3 plays avi files fine but of course for $800 you also get a BR player and also by the way, a really killer games console!
On my PC I tend to use VLC and for the DVB-T broadcasts, PowerDVD8

Should have been more precise in my original request. I meant media players for my laptop, but wasn't specific enough. PS3 is a nice idea, but son has a PS2 and I don't have time to play on that. Also bought a DVD recorder a couple of months back, and would be a shame to let it sit. Maybe if the price drops a bit more, it may be worth another look.
Sky Update: Well, Sky did it again at the weekend with the F1 qualifying, so I phoned them and told them to shove it where the sun don't shine (not quite those words, but you get the idea). Turns out they have a SLA where their manager is supposed to contact the customer within 48 hours of raising a complaint. If that's the case, I'm still waiting on the call from about the Singapore grand prix recently and the Silverstone grand prix from 2007.
Now all I have to do is figure out is the best way to watch the F1 torrents I now have to download.

Been a petrol-head most of my life (right into rallying from way back) but they can stick F1 "where the sun don't shine" until the FIA start treating anyone else other Ferrari with more respect; most specifically, the name of one of New Zealand's favourite motoring sons. Their new, young, main driver may be a bit of a dick, but that's no excuse for their recent treatment.
