Hi all,

I’m looking at repurposing a Lenovo Tiny PC as a media server. Just curious what OS you all are running and what the setup is? I’ve seen omv, FreeNas and Unraid. Or Ubuntu server? Ive read a bit about Docker.

Movies/TV - Probably Plex or Jellyfin with Infuse as the client on Apple TV and iPads. Would like to run Sonarr and Radarr.

Music - Plex, Airsonic or something else? Needs to have an iOS app. Play from anywhere and offline downloads.

other stuff - pihole? anything else?

All my media is currently on a Seagate NAS so would need to be able to mount that as a drive.

Interested to hear everyone’s setup! Thanks in advance.

Personally, not saying its the best, the ultimate, the only way...I run Emby plus Premium on a PC I stuck together last year. Ryzen 3700 in a big box with 7 or 8 HDDs and ordinary Windows 10. Just used at home and one or maybe 2 remote users.

Don't have any Apple clients (use Shield mostly) but believe Infuse has a beta version talking to Emby should you so desire.

Apple TV and Plex. I only use plex for stuff I don’t have streaming access to so a few movie BR remuxs and some TV shows. I use Apple Music so no need to store music for playback.

Netflix. I still have Kodi looking at file shares on my standard Windows PC but we haven't used it in months because we just stream now. We switched to mostly streaming right after I bought a new 6 terabyte hard drive for all the media.

Plex on a Windows 10 “server”. With drivebender making all the drives show up as one.

Does have music, but I tend to Spotify premium.

Plex clients on iPad, iPhone, Apple TV and roku 3.
If not in Plex then hayu, tvnz on demand or Netflix is used.

A bit like you, I run a Lenovo Tiny as my Plex server (running Ubuntu 20.04, Plex Server installed natively)

My actual server is a HPe Microserver Gen 8 running UnRaid and from here I have a NFS mount on my Lenovo Tiny for Plex. Reason why I went this route was I wanted to keep Plex separate from my main server, the Tiny handles it perfectly.

Sonarr / Radarr / NZBGet runs on my Microserver and have also got Ombi (https://ombi.io/) running on the Lenovo Tiny also for external requests.

I've tried Jellyfin / Emby myself and didn't like it. Plex is just so much user friendly and has clients available for literally everything.

Plus they finally seem to be getting to the useful features part of their development roadmap.  Skip Intro just came out and is AMAZING.  Also the new Plex Dash app is super useful if you're a stats nerd like me.

Asustor 2 bay NAS with 10gb lan port. Not that I have a 10gb switch, yet. :)
4TB of storage (2x 4TB in raid1)
Plex media server and tvmosaic server running on there.
Xoro Satellite IP server with quad tuners for receiving signal from satellite dish.
Plex is used for steaming movies and tv shows and viewing our photos on Apple TV clients.
Sonos speaker for music streaming.
Apple TV’s have the tvmosaic client for watching and recording live tv.
We’re rural and internet isn’t great so we do watch or record a bit of tv but otherwise use ondemand.

Whitebox 2U server running ESXi. openmediavault for storage, and Jellyfin and Tvheadend as the main media apps. All clients are running LibreELEC. Tvh is paired up with a Telestar DIGIBIT R1, which is one of my favorite purchases of all time.

I've repurposed an old 2011 Mac mini with a couple of 2TB Firewire 800 external drives attached. Running Plex media server to a variety of different clients around the house. One ATV 4K and two Nvidia Shields. It does everything that I need it to.

Main household desktop PC that has a shared windows partition. Downloads and various media files go into that share.

Amazon Fire TV hooked up the the main TV running KODI - KODI has access to the windows share.

Secondary TV is hooked up to a Raspberry Pi running Librelec (KODI) also with access to the Windows share.

Works sweet as a nut.
