We're in the process of building a new house.  Plan is to have the TV on the wall.

Just wondering:

- what is the best way of hiding all of the cables

- what cables should be run

- where should the power points be located

- where should the ethernet and coax cables  be located

Currently, we use Apple TV / Vodafone TV rather than using the smart features of the TV.  But this may change, so need to plan for both.

Any help much appreciated.

If you are wall hanging a TV, make all the outlets near the mount arm, if you are mounting to a fixed bracket put your outlets somewhere in the centre of the bracket,

The tricky thing comes if you are using a STB/Home theatre/ bluray/4K player etc you will need to think about where these devices will be and make sure you have the appropriate HDMI + other cables in the wall from them wherever they are up to the screen outlets,

Something like a frame tv from Samsung has a seperate box for the brains and a single 3m cable that is suitable for running in a wall.

Designed to be hidden in walls

Run conduit from the tv to where any lower mounted cabinets would be so you could run cables through it between the TV and some AV equipment. use brush plates on either end.

Ethernet, power, coax etc can be mounted in something like this so its recessed

I installed 3 of the below match master hidden media hub in 3 different TV locations. Ran 40mm conduit from these boxes to the bottom of the wall to feed any future cables. Got sparky to install double power point inside the media hub and I ran multiple network cables inside the media hub as it supports up to 3 different gang boxes so plenty of space inside it and plan is to mount TV in front of it. I have used the same in my new build. From memory it was $50 or so from JA Russell.
