Just noticed tonight that there is a firmware update for the following Yamaha AV Receivers:

RX-A1080/RX-V1085/RX-A2080/RX-V2085/RX-A3080/RX-V3085 Firmware Update Ver.1.80

This firmware includes:

  1. Security measures on 3PDA (Amazon Alexa Skill) functionality
  2. Stability improvements on eARC related functionality
  3. Other stability improvements

Hopefully it addresses the, sometimes, slight audio sync problems with eARC.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

To be fair, that update came out on the 23rd of April...

It may fix eARC issues re: lip sync, but my experience is that most (if not all) of the issues with lip sync on eARC enabled TV's comes from the screen end... extra picture processing seems to be the major cause. That... and that using eARC for external sources like ATV's / STB's etc just adds another audio hop into the process, thereby increasing the chances of issues.

Well my Yamaha only picked it up automatically Yesterday evening and I have been into the settings several times since April.

Have watched both Neon and Netflix shows in the last 24 hrs and I have noticed a marked improvement though not 100%. It is hardly noticeable now. It has also been an intermittent problem.
