I was hoping that the chipset and the card would run together letting me drive a monitor off each, but that doesnt seem to happen.

I have got a quaddro for cad, but its a total crap one so doesnt work too good for anything else (to tell you the truth I dont think it was worth it)

So I would like to have one screen on the quaddro and one on the onboard which works better and will allow me to use 1920x1440 on both screens, which the second output of the quadro will not do.

Possible?

Its on vista 64, and I am still using the PC for HTPC use as well. The quadro with the powerdvd codec works fien for me despite not listing accelerated h264 as a feature too. Its just a fx550.

Not exactly sure what your are asking, but I have set up a TV to run as a monitor from the on-board Nvidia graphics card and a second monitor on the external 8600GT card. Just used the lastest Nvidia drivers and made sure both the on-board and external GPU were enabled in the BIOS.

I want to run one screen off the onboard which works better then my PCIe card for most things, and one off my PCIe quaddro fx550 which is an overpriced piece of crap at anything 3d that I only got because I had failed twice at softmodding a card already.

Will reboot now and check out the bios. Time for the monthly reboot anyway ;)

edit: well, the only thing I could see is that I had the PCI card set to init first - changed it to onboard and booted up. Had image on my monitor now plugged into the onboard, but got a message in the tray that my other card was disabled because of an incompatible driver.

Ah well.

Typically speaking most motherboards with onboard video will automatically disable this once you insert a card into the PCIe or AGP slot.

I might swap the board out for an nvidia chipped one and see how I get on.

Its a shame that there is the stupid requirement for a "pro" card to get it to look nice in cad, the stupid thing is that once enabled and I remote desktop in, realview is still enabled and actually works faster then using the card so its clearly just an arbitary requirement for no reason. Sadly all the hacks to force it I have tried have ended up not working being that I have 64 bit and most people who use 64 bit are not cheapskates when it comes to buying a card.
