Ok, So im running RC3 with a Nova-T 500. Getting random BSOD's usually when recording two programs. I was thinking maybe im running it too hard, but recording two channels im less than 10% CPU usually. Have heard of problems with the nova 500 in general, and fixing usb drivers can help. Does anyone have any experience with this?
Secondly. When scanning for channels, from te aroha, im getting 1,2,3,C4,TVNZ6,TVNZ7,Parliament,Maori,Chinese, SPorts extra, TV Central but it doesnt pick up stratos or cue or te reo, can anyone explain this? is the Te Aroha file mising some frequencies when scanning?
Thirdly. Turned on the tv this arvo to watch m,y recorded daily show :D but it was zoomed to half the screen, and played for les than a second, then audio continue but video foze. Watching live tv, same issue. only on C4. Most other channels have started doing some freezy stuff though. 1,2,3 seem to be working fine still.
Does anyone have any suggestions for the above?

Ok ive fixed the issue with my playback being a mess/broken. Had to turn off EVR and go back to VMR.
Still missing channels and, BSOD's on tuner card though... anyone.......

1) I run a Nova T 500 and MP RC3 no problem. This is on Vista although XP shouldn't be any worse. Have you tried the latest drivers? You definitely not overloading the computer.

2) Statos, Cue and Te Reo are not broadcast on the DVB-T platform, only DVB-S. That is the broadcasters choice, if you want those channels you will need satellite.

3) I knopw there have been significant and protracted issues with ATi and the interlaced Freeview channels. Sounds like you may have a fix, that may or may not last. Or maybe those issues are fixed now.

For the BSOD's, run memtest overnight and see if your RAM is all good.

If I had to point my finger at any one particular thing, I'd say its your videocard thats the problem. As amphibem pointed out, their has been major issues with ATi and interlaced Freeview channels and as far as I know, their still is (just do a search in these forums as theirs been plenty of discussion about it).

One thing you can try is turning video hardware acceleration off. This will certainly improve playback on teh interlaced channels. As for the BSOD, like I said I think its your videocard but of course the only way to be sure is to try a different one, preferably of the nvidia variety.

I used to run a nova t 500 with vista - and it was fine. I would have an uptime of over a month. Due to other issues (not being able to have ac3 output without having to get up and change the default sound output), I decided to move back to xp.

With xp, I had random crashes. The machine would dump the memory - reboot, and then I'd send the full memory dump off to Microsoft (first time it happened, they looked for similar errors, then requested that I change the setting to send the full memory dump as they didn't know what was causing it). Sometimes it wouldn't happen for a week, other times, it would happen 4 times in 1 show.

This was the same computer that had been working perfectly under vista, but, with xp, there were problems. As the opportunity came up, I replaced the card with a hvr-2200 card. That was the only change that was made to the computer. I haven't had a crash since (2+ months).

I would like to have both cards in the computer at the same time - so I could watch any hd show, and still record prime, but... I no longer trust the nova 500 card under xp.

I had it under vista originally but was having stuttering issues when watching hd... So went for xp, no stuttering. Regarding the ATI issue. Have been reading on other forums, including hauppauge's, and there talking about incompatibilities between the nova-t 500 and nvidia cards....
Looking through my MP logs, and Im seeing things about SQL server being down... Will investigate further.... But I wouldnt think that could lead to BSOD's just a MP crash maybe.... unless MP is handling the crash terribly...
