Hi Everyone,

I am having a problem at the moment with the above TV Tuner and setting up Vista Media Centre to display a signal from the S-Video port.

I am trying to run my Cable TV box through the TV Tuner's S-Video port and then through Windows Media Centre. But there does not seem to be any way to get an input through the S-Video port in Vista MCE. I have run through the whole setup multiple times and it scans for sources but never finds any (I only have the S-Video cable plugged in, no aerial at the moment). I have been searching through forums etc and have not found a way to get it to work.

Can anyone help me out at all?

Hi,

You'll need to install an mpeg encoder for it to recognise the analogue tuner I think? At least I did with my Blackgold card. There are many options, including plenty of free ones.

Thanks for the quick reply,

I have install a Vista Codec pack, would this have included an MPEG encoder? It looks like it would have. I'm thinking about giving up on this TV Tuner :P.

I think I mean a decoder not an encoder..... I get a little confused sometimes :)

I will send you a link to the one I used when I get home this evening anyway!

Your Hauppauge CD should have some with a SoftMCE MPEG2 encoder which needs to be installed.

Thanks for all your help.

I will have a look through my CD tonight. I'm pretty sure I just told it to install everything though :)
