Just wanted to give you a heads up on a new budget media player that caught my eye at $284 kiwi dollars delivered from Hong Kong.

I received the Dune HD Real Vision 4K player yesterday and it is a great player with a new chip - Realtek RTD1619DR.

I have it set it to upscale all content to Dolby Vision and it looks great. I am feeding it content from a Synology NAS and playing it on a Panasonic 55" OLED.

Any questions I would be happy to answer or check out the review here: https://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=5098.0

Not heard about Dune in a long time !

Does this new player pass through lossless audio (Dolby True HD, Atmos, DTS-ha MA, DTS-x etc.) from digital files like mkv etc ?

My read based on the link above is that streaming services WON'T be full HD / 4k etc though?

Chapter-4: Steaming Video services

Regarding streaming services: YES for full support get an NVidia Shield or Apple-TV (or a TV Powered by Android). In fact Dune with Android TV9 on it can run the APP's and Streaming Services perfect in a technical sense. Companies like Dune lack the big multinational status plus their relations and many video streaming providers limit Audio-features/Picture-Quality for them on purpose (a kind of unspoken boycot).

Yes , HD Audio bit-streaming is flawless, supporting all codecs up to Dolby Atmos and DTS:X.

You are correct , this is a media player for content on your server.

Android apps don't make use of the native dune player that offers Dolby Vision etc.
