Hi,

I have got an HP media PC running VMC with an analog TV tuner in it and I want to upgrade it so I can get freeview channels.
The graphics card is a GeForce 7500LE and at this stage I don't want to upgrade that.  So can I use a DVB-T tuner or am I limited to DVB-S because of the h.264 thing.

Also if I have to go the DVB-S way is there are limit to the number to times you can split a satilite signal?

Thanks

Without a video card capable of H.264 hardware acceleration you won't get the best quality picture.

Depending on the spec of your PC software decoding will also be problematic - anything less than a medium range dual core processor and you simply won't get adequete results.

I'm not sure whether are you aware or not but VMC doesn't support Freeview|HD. You will need to look at other TV software such as GB-PVR, DVBViewer or Media Portal that will work.

No I wasn't aware VMC didn't support HD,  so DVB-S is my only option then.

Cheers

Not sure what the other specs of you PC is but with that video card DVB-T is not an option.

DVB-S should be ok providing your PC is not too low spec wise. As far as splitting the cable seems that you start having to be careful if you are over 3 splits but depends a lot on how good your dish is and how long the run is to the dish.

Even with DVB-S you need to jump though some hoops to get it working or get hold of the TV Pack which has officialy only been released to OEM's.
