TV on a swivel. A small person has moved it a few times using fingers on the screen. I cleaned it with Moki wipes today. Mostly gone. A thin layer of persistent dried residue remains in one or two spots. Maybe it's long ago spaghetti and sauce with oil. It does reduce when I go over it with the wipes. This feels a little bit abrasive. Taking a while.

Is there some mild household cleaner I can safely use with less abrasion?

I use 2 microfibre cloths. One I dampen and work my way over the screen wiping with the damp cloth and drying as I go with the dry cloth. Turn the cloth as you go. I don't use any chemicals

I got a couple of packs of a generic antiseptic wipes the other day, packet said distributed by Uncle Bills but was from another similar shop. I tried them on a screen that had some stubborn spots and they were wiped away like nothing.

They left some residue but this helped highlight where to follow up with a micro fibre cloth. Screen ended up as new.

This is pretty much how I do it. I apply just enough water for it to soak into a corner of the cloth, then fold it so there is a few layers of cloth between my fingers and the screen so as not to apply too much pressure on the screen directly. Stubborn fly excrement is handled by repeated wipes, never hard rubbing. Once any finger prints or spots are removed, I use a dry cloth in a wide circular motion until any residue is invisible, using a different part of the cloth as necessary. I move my head around or use a torch to make sure it's clean, but that's not really necessary as you can't see it when the screen is lit, or at least it's much less noticeable than the horrible yellow corners of IPS panels or uneven backlights.

Had to give this a go. Dettol disinfectant wipes had some effect. The substance seems hard enough to abraid the cloth. It did remove some kind of thinned it out. Cleaned up with Mokis. Some left so.. Kleenex anti bacteria wipes with tea tree oil arghh.. very little effect. Huggies coconut oil baby wipes. Similar effect to the dettol wipes maybe better. Cleaned up again with Moki. Moki is just the wrong product for a lounge tv.

End result reduced the issue some remains for another day.

Ask your local optometrist if they have any freebies. I use the ones that came with may glasses or those handed out as promo items. I clean my glasses with cotton and keep the best of the microfibre cloths for cleaning LCD panels.

Some of the cloths have a woven texture. I never use those, only the smooth ones.

Yep - Microfibre cloths are the best bet.

One damp and another dry.

The damp one may need a weak solution of detergent if you have greasy marks on the screen.
