Hi, I have been tyring to setup a new VMC (64bit) HTPC which includes a Blackgold BGT3540 TV card. I am only looking to find all the free to air Freeview channels as I do not have sky. - Sound simple?Every time I scan for channels it finds the correct card and the DVB-T tuners but after 10 minutes of tuning it finishes saying "100% done (0 channel(s) found)."I can find channels with dbviewer fine so I'm happy that the card works OK. Just having no luck at all with vmc.Has anyone had similar issues?

Ive got the same tuner card as you. To get dvb-s you don't need to do anything special. You need to install tv pack 2008 on a clean vista SP1 install. Then do all important and recommended updates and install drivers for tv card and graphics card. In the satellite setup on vmc, you'll need to set the right LO frequency (11300 or 10750 depending on your setup) and do manual transponder scans on 12456/22500 and 12483/22500. It should just work after that with an 8 day epg. Unfortunately there are issues with scheduled recordings being dropped however.
There is an update to "fix" this (search on geekzone to find it) but unfortunately it doesnt "fix" it. It seems to help a bit though...
To get Prime, Juice and local stations (eg: Triangle) a simple analogue scan will do the trick. There wont be a guide of course, but there is a workaround for this using the sky epgs off the satellite. Although the sky channels are encrypted, the epgs are not. Look at the pinned thread by Satch in the freeview forum if you want to try this.

All sorted now and all freeview channels found via Sky Satellite dish into my DVB-S inputs. Yay and a big thanks to Asmodeus and Regs.
The only other problem I had was with my BTG3540 TV Card. I needed to scan for stations on one of the two DVB-S ports but swap to the other in order to be able to view the channels detected. – A very strange one indeed.So that was all good until a few days back when I started getting MASSIVE stuttering and picture freeze on every station. Is OK some times for a period of time after a reboot but really unwatchable others. Any good tips on solving DVB-S stuttering issues? Cheers

maybe there are issues with the mpeg2 decoder you are using? there is a utility you can get which lets you change the preferred decoder within MCE- the decoder checkup utility maybe?- you will probably get a list to choose from, i think i'm using the cyberlink decoder at the moment. The built in MS one didnt work so well for me. Under XP MCE i was using the nvidia purevideo gpu accelerated one as MCE never came with one out of the box
