I've been reading a thread about file sharing between xbox 360's and pc ( http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?ForumId=34&TopicId=4843&page_no=2#23604 )
I've followed all the advice and got the software, but it not working. reading further on i see message about modding the xbox.

can i just confirm you cant file share on a NORMAL xbox. to make it work you either need to get the mod chip put in or do the software hack equivalent??

as my xbox is still as Bill intended this is why flashfxp doesn't bring up a file list for my xbox?

If you mean the original Xbox (old black beauty) then no, there is no way that I can think of file sharing on a network that does not involve modding the xbox.

If you mean the newer Xbox360, then it is possible to stream movies, music etc across the network from Windows / Mac PCs.

There are also devices that sit between the hard drive and the Xbox360 called an X-Sata, which allows you to connect the hard drive directly to a PC, but as far as I can tell this is only useful for moving videos, demos savegames etc off the hard drive for backup.

Yes I did mean a 360.

I liked the idea of being able to move files and so on on to my pc hard drive which has more room to store things like downloaded games and map updates on it than the xbox hard drive.
I just don't like the sound of invalidating the warranty in the 360 by software hacks and mod chips!

Thanks for the info!

How do i work out whats a halo save over a downloaded vid for example?

for media streaming try TVersity.com.. there's a good forum there as well, so you should be able to get some advice about file sharing
