My TCL 55C2US TV has only one output port, optical audio, and a Toslink cable connects to the optical-in port on my Sony DA1200ES receiver.

I listen to TV via headphones from the receiver, however, the cans suddenly stopped picking up audio, so I'm trying to trace the fault.

The receiver end of the Toslink cable, when detached, shows a steady red light. Is this normal? If so, I guess the TV output is working properly, which could also mean that the cable is OK. Which perhaps means that the receiver's optical-in circuitry is faulty?

Comments would be appreciated

Steady red light to the naked eye is normal. If you slow it down, you might be able to see some super fast flashes!

maybe an issue with the optical cable? but maybe double check the TVs menu to ensure audio is being output ie bitstreamed via optical? Perhaps try a different optical input on your Sony 1200ES and ensure its set to Auto decode what ever comes in ?

Thanks guys. I fixed it by the moving the Toslink cable to another port and reassigning the menu choice. If anyone else has the problem, it's covered on page 86 of the manual.
