  • I'm tempted to splash $69.00. It would be an added bonus if I will be able to access "forbidden" channels like BBC, C4 using my existing VPN (Surfshark). I currently do that via my laptop and ageing CC.

Bump.

An additional Q. Can I use my laptop Chrome browser  to cast or does the Google TV switch on by default?

When you cast, the device (e.g. laptop) tells the cast device where to get the stream. It doesn't send the stream itself to the cast device.

Unless there is a VPN client you can install on the CCGoogleTV, the best bet is to set the VPN up on your router.
