I had GBPVR setup OK for my current environment (running Sky STB into HVR-2200) and the video/audio were streaming to the tele just fine.

Then I decided to see what Windows 7 was like so I installed it as a dual boot with XP.

First thing I noticed was that my XP wireless connection was useless (that took 1 day to resolve) and also my GBPVR configuration was all messed up and especially my Sky feed which now looks (on the tele and Pvrx2) like Prime on a windy day (very snowy/grainy). And Prime won't even tune in correctly at all.

Having said that, I re-installed GBPVR, Power Cinema, Hauppauge drivers, patches, etc. and it is now at the point where Power Cinema shows everything sharp and clear, but I can't get GBPVR to get back to its sweet spot with Sky (channel 230 on the analogue tuner) or Prime (316).

Anyone else have this problem with 7, or know offhand what the magic filter is I need to reinstate?

I thought it was the Cyberlink Video/SP Decoder (PCM45) but that apparently isn't any better using that, and I remember I used to have 2 Cyberlink muxes and removed one (I now have 2 again) but I don't remember which one I removed, and if I understand correctly it doesn't use a mux for analogue tuning anyway.

I'm basically wading through a haze so if anyone has an idea I'd appreciate hearing it!

Dual boot on separate partitions? Totally separate install? I can't see how this could have any affect.

Separate partitions on my non-RAID OS drive. The W7 partition is 40Gb.

I'm at a loss to understand it also. I presumed there would be a "wall" between the C: (XP) and D: (W7) installations.

It's a known "issue" that GBPVR doesn't work properly with Windows7 and the author has no intention of releasing a version that supports it fully until the retail release of Windows 7 is out. (as per GBPVR forums)

But you're not actually running GBPVR on W7 are you? It's still running on xp but it's like W7 has "infected "the xp install. Right?

That's correct. I installed W7, installed Hauppauge drivers (to get ready to try WMC) and then went back to XP because I wanted to watch the yachting (TVNZ SportsExtra). But couldn't watch Live TV and when I went through the channels everything except TV1 was grainy.

Strange thing is that when I looked at the channels with WinTV everything was sharp and clear. So I've spent the time since then trying to figure out what decoders WinTV is using vs. GBPVR. I noticed that after the W7 install I lost the Monogram AAC audio decoder and the Cyberlink Video/SP (PCM45) decoder.

So I uninstalled Hauppauge stuff, GBPVR, K-Lite codec, etc. and re-installed them. I re-specified the channels in GBPVR, re-loaded the EPG, etc. but can't get back to that "nice" state I was in.

If I just run the antenna feed into the HVR-2200 I get great DVB-T reception plus OK Prime. If I run the antenna into Sky STB and then the analogue into the HVR-2200 I get Good TV1 and lightly grainy TV2,3,C4, plus no Prime and a very grainy Sky feed (channel 230).

Really twists my brain (and as you can tell I have less every day) to try and understand what WinTV is doing differently (Sky looks great in WinTV as an example).

I guess my request boils down to this.

I had GBPVR/MediaMVP working with video as good as straight from the STB (with the UHF plugged into STB for Prime).

Now I do not get Prime with that same configuration (as if the station won't tune) and Sky is very grainy.

If I unplug the UHF from the STB Sky is crystal clear (but I've lost my FTA).

If I unplug the STB from the HTPC and instead run in the UHF I get Prime (as good as possible for UHF), and if I plug the STB into the tele Sky is crystal clear.

So something has changed on the HTPC-end and I don't know whether that is a Mux issue, decoder issue, or what.

Any ideas?
