Heya,

I have a an acer extensa 2300 laptop that I need to do something with... I was thinking of putting ubuntu on it with a media player of some type and using it as a media PC. The only problems I can see are how to connect it to my amp as the laptop only has a 3.5mm mic out and vga out. How would I connect this up?

Or

I could use the laptop as a home server (ubuntu server). I am not quite sure why I would want to do this..?

Cheers

Does it have a screen?

I have heaps of projects lined up that are perfect for laptops ;)

You could turn it into a photoframe (that also plays movies, DVDs and Music Videos.. (Ive done that)
You could turn it into a Digital only (no analog phonelines) VoIP server with Elastix or Ubuntu (dont use trixbox)
Home webserver / Squid (caching server)
... I could go on for a long time
Actually, If you dont want it :) (/Shameless)
