Hello. I'm working off memory, but years ago I think I saw a gadget where you put it on a table, and feed movies/TV through it via wifi / Google Cast etc, and it projected the image onto the ceiling.

Is this such a thing?

is it available in NZ? and can it be passworded (several folks in the house use the same wifi, but not in the same room)?

is the sound OK/good volume?

Do you mean one of these?

although the link is for the warehouse, it’s actually from Noel leeming as per the listing.

perhaps search for “projectors” from all the usual trusted stores and then go have a look online at places like Amazon etc.

probally you can find on Temu….but would ya trust it?  Hahahah.

There are a ton of projectors available that will do this, at a wide range of price points ranging from the sub $150 models to ones costing thousands of dollars. It's a question of how much quality do you want and how much are you prepared to pay.

I got a budget LED model last year for around $350, substantially brighter than I expected but the picture quality is mediocre. paired it with a chromecast and a fabric screen, and pinched the soundbar off the telly, to show outdoor movies at night. My then 4 year old and his friends loved outdoor movie night. It would have also worked if I pointed it at the ceiling.
