Hi,

just wondering if anyone has tried the latest winTV v7 application which can be downloaded (for most cards with the notable exception of the 2200 and maybe others..).
I've yet to try it but was wondering if anyone else has? I'm pretty sure it won't be as configurable to do all the nice things people like with Mediaportal, GBPVR etc but it does provide HD TV viewing / Possibly recording and also playback of other video files.

Holding out for the latest mediaportal update :-)

I have just purchased a WinTV HVR-1100 & am not surprised to see & experience issues with configuration & setup on WinTv 7.
All credit to Happauge for making an easy to use interface.
However a business that doesnt support all its products with the required codecs EG: N.Z Freeview  H.264/HE-AAC/AC3 decoders.

An annoying example of a lack of need to maintain a high level of integrity in regard to customers needs etc..
Not been able to plug & play without tedious research for fixes etc puts the supplier in disrepute with customers.

Come on Happauge corporation!! a product that doesnt work under an array of circumstances is like a car that stalls on a gradual incline.
Just because its PC technology is not an excuse for ducking & diving..

Time to live up to the expected requirements that a reputable company commands.

I've tested alot of the WinTV7 stuff for Hauppauge in New Zealand. I've got the full CD version of WinTV7, with Arcsoft decoders, and these decoders do a good job with our DVB-T channels H.264/HE-AAC.

You shouldnt be surprised that the download version doesnt include these decoders. They have to pay several dollars for the decoders, and thats only factored in for the specific software CD that ships with the tuner your bought. Given the small margins on this type of hardware, so cant expect them to supply updates other than for the software they shipped on your CD. It would cost them millions of dollars to supply H.264 decoders available for every user that had bought a Hauppauge DVB product in the past that now have H.264 broadcasts (remember Europe too, not just NZ).

They have only just started to ship WinTV7 on CD with devices sent to New Zealand and Australia. Older devices shipped with PowerCinema.

I have to give Hauppauge props for developing software that work with the oddball system used in NZ. Alot of other companies havnt bothered.

What problems are you having exactly? Its new software, and there have been a few minor teething problems found & fixed for some users, but the majority of users have not had these problems. If you report the problems on the Hauppauge forums, that'll give them a chance to resolve any issues you've encountered, so hopefully others wont have the same problem in future, making everyone happy. They have been very proactive about resolving any problems reported.
