My local marae has had the magic smoke go out on the 2019 65" Sony TV that's bundled with their mobile video conference cart. It seems to be a known issue, so they are looking at a replacement rather than repair. Trying to keep it under $1300, it looks the JVC 65 Inch 4K Ultra HD QLED Mini LED Google Smart TV for $1200 would use a CSOT panel that should be OK according to its association with TCL? Whereas a TCL C6K would be $1500 but might have better materials/ electronics? (Does the TCL include a mount that would allow it to mount to the VESA bar mount on the cart? I see this adapter mentioned https://www.reddit.com/r/tcltvs/comments/1mqsnlh/tcl_q6cc6k_75inch_tv_builtin_wall_mount_bracket/ ).

Priorities would be either manufacturer or retailer longevity, standard Google TV, and VESA mount (if there's a warranty that would be less hassle than the CGA would be good but neither might apply in their situation?). It seems like the brand names don't have a great rep at this price point? And for the uncontrolled lighting environment, maybe a standard LCD panel would be sufficient?

Legacy brand names like JVC are licenced to different companies on a country by country basis so what's sold here may have nothing to do with what's being sold under that name in some other countries.

MiniLED backlights help for watching in darkened rooms.

You can get an LG 65" for $999

Remember to disable overscan for the HDMI input.

Do you care about the TV audio is the first question, because that is where the cheap ones tend to really suck compared to the okish brands.

How about viewing angles? The cheap 4k ones seem to be the worst for this.

Thanks, yeah, MiniLED would only be a nice to have in that their primary usage is for hui during the day in a pretty mixed lighting environment so it would only come into its own for presentations or entertainment at night. Was also looking at that LG as the Noel Leeming is only an hour away so we could pick it up easily, had some misgivings with reports of the power supply on that model failing (which I've seen on a few other LG TVs and monitors in recent years), the more restrictive nature of WebOS if using the SmartTV features (and also reportedly a bit more laggy on their lower end hardware), complaints of low contrast and blooming making off-axis viewing sketchy, and all the aphorisms of "not LG if not OLED".

Yeah, I find overscan and picture enhancements very annoying in our non-analogue era, especially when 0 doesn't mean disabled.

For the hui they use the conference camera's speakers, and a portable speaker for the smart TV functions. Viewing angles are an important factor.

IPS LCD panels have better viewing angles than the more common VA. Entry level 65" are often IPS.

Using domestic tvs as conference screens will lead to disappointment.

They're not rated for bright or daylight viewing, so you'll need to crank up the brightness.  Which then leads to led backlight failure and burn in.

Using domestic tvs in a semi commercial activity will also void warranty.

And will also track your viewing via automatic content recognition and upload what you are watching to various servers. i

This situation doesn't need 16x7 backlight capability (unlikely to be needed more than once a week for four hours at a time), or daylight viewing (inside with indirect natural light from one end of the room). ACR is pretty creepy, one of those devil's bargains for people using Smart TVs.

I would, if budget allows go for a digital signage display, they are better suited to been moved around etc vs a consumer tv
