Like many movie viewers now, I watch mainly off streaming services so when the chance comes to watch a movie off a physical disc I jump at it.

Recently I've noticed picture quality has declined on the physical media to the point that a good stream is more enjoyable

:(

Eg. discs of The Beekeeper, Sisu 2, Ice Road Vengeance all have issues that make the stream the first choice.

Things are not much better in the 4k UHD world either,

True Lies, Lord of the Rings - all have so much DNR and colour timing changes that make them inferior to the Bluray.

:(

You can compare stills from different releases here https://caps-a-holic.com/top.php (mouse over the image to switch between the two selected for comparison).

I only have my xbox series x to play them in, and I have borrowed a couple recently that would not read well in it. Not sure if its a dust issue or a disc issue. I just downloaded what I wanted to watch which would have been a faster way to get it anyway.
