Hey,

Looking for a new tv, researched for a week and came to the conclusion I want either of the two. What one would you get, Prices are nearly the same.

Wow $1900 is a very good price for the v-series, thats usually the price of the s-series model lol. Im not worried about free-view alreadu have a set-top box.

well id sell the box. otherwise get the samsung - it has 100hz vs the sonys 50hz. but if your paying 500 more for it its not a great deal imho

I have the KDL40V4000. There are a couple of annoying things.

1, The built in freeview  HD decoder cant decode surround sound. i.e. my sound system can do 5.1, works fine from my xbox 360. But when I plug the spdf cable into the tv I dont get surround sound, only stereo.

2, When changing channel between Freeview HD and analog (Prime) it takes about 10 seconds because you have to change to analog mode. Then chose the channel.

Apart from that, I love the TV.

Oh well, I picked up the samsung for $2000 so quite happy with that price aye. Had a look at the reviews on hdtvtests.co.uk, but it didnt have the exact model number but looks exactly the same, only bad thing they said was it has a slight amount of input lag for playing on a gaming console(me being an xbox 360 boy and playing heaps of cod4) but they said the lag can be reduced if game mode is turned on or if a VGA connection is used so i'll just wait and see what its like.
