I have configured 7MC to record to the same location as MP previously did, but (perhaps obviously) does not pick up the old files (recorded as TS files).

Does anyone know how i can import these files so that they show in 7MC?

Thanks for the reply Dingbatt, but i am not looking to play them, just be able to have them show by default.

I have been further researching this and it would appear that the 7MC format for recorded TV has the .wtv extension, which the guys at the Green Button have discussed.

So might just be to difficult at the moment.

I have managed to figure this one out.

Although 7MC uses WTV files for recording tv, it is still happy to load and play dvr-ms files. So if you have any TS files just convert them using TSConverter and then put them in the Recorded TV folder and it should pick them up (maybe after a restart).

Will TSConverter handle our weird audio?  Or does it just wrap the TS in a shell that MC can recognise. Because as alluded to in the other thread I linked, Win7MC can play the video from TS files I have recorded using MP it just doesn't have any audio.

Can't quite understand why you would want to be able to see them but not play them.

The big difference, i would guess, is that i am dealing with SD recordings as i cannot get DVB-T at my locale. Based on your experience it might not work as well for HD recordings.

I have a bunch of early MP recordings(ts files) from TV One that the sound works on. It is either because of a different broadcast standard used in the early days or that they are DVB-S MPEG-2 type recordings (don't know which for sure due to their age). So using your suggestion I might try converting them and see what happens.
