I have a Jensen WD-150 sub on my HT setup. It has a single Lo level input which is what I currently use from the receiver. Is there any reason why I would use the Hi level inputs, with my speakers (Main or Surround??) connected to the Hi Level outputs on the sub rather than the speakers connected directly to the receiver as they are now? Does the sub amp amplify the output to the speakers or is it a pass-through? Also would I disconnect the single Lo level input to the sub if I used the Hi level inputs? I don't know why the two options are available and if there is any advantage to using one over the other. Any help or explanations would be appreciated. Thanks.
Hi level is for if you just are adding the sub to a 2 channel stereo amp. Some of them put a passive highpass filter between the in and the out but most I have seen just connect them together and derive the sub signal from them.
I know of people connecting both when their reciver had succky bass management so that the sub would do stuff when playing stereo stuff but most recivers now dont have those problems.
Thanks richms. My sub works when doing stereo or Dolby Digital so I guess I should just leave it as is, using the Lo Level input. I had a look at the 1 page instruction that came with the sub and it shows either option, but with suround speakers connected when using the Hi Level inputs & outputs. I guess this is just for ease of cabling to the surounds maybe.
