Anyone used something like this? Any issues?

Tried a similar one..

Was.... So.... Slow...... - Lucky to see 5-6 megabytes a second accessing it with sustained access - and random ones like making thumbnails was a massive joke - never used the torrenter on the one I had but when using utorrent to seed off the nas it was always going red with errors opening files - never the same problem when the drive was shared on an old junker running server 2003.

Media serving stuff on it also was stupidly slow, and that was with only 20000 MP3 files to serve.

If theyre not even up to serving mp3s then what good are they or is it a bit of a gimmick?

Will avoid. Cheers

Ive used a couple of different ones in the past (cant remember the brands now - I think one was an ASUS). They definately werent huge performers but they worked. I normally used them for a secondary backup device. Dont remember them being quite as slow as mentioned though.. I do remember them being way over-priced though!

Also beware of those Landisk's. You need a propitiatory driver installed on the system to access the contents of said device.. So you wont be able to use it for anything other than windows 2000/xp/ vista?..
