Ok, just replaced my ati card wth a nvidia card and it looks like it is passing audio through hdmi. Pretty useless considering I use analog audio.

I'm using 185 drivers on win7 rc b7100.

Has anyone got analog audio working while connecting over hdmi?

If you're not getting any analogue audio you've probably got the digital audio set as the default in your Sound properties.

Nope, def analog set, if I plug in my speakers its fine. Its won't let the pc pass analog audio to the tv as it is trying to do it over hdmi.

99% positive it'll be your TV. Most have options for the audio input for HDMI.

Why not just use HDMI audio? Saves running two cables.

Have you hooked a cable up from your SPDIF headers on the motherboard to your video card?

The problem is kind of at the TV end. I had the same issue. Because the Video card supports sound over HDMI the TV registers that and then expects the sound to come from the HDMI and stops listening for it via the analogue. Unless there is a setting in the TV menus to change when it gets the sound from you have to feed the sound via SPDIF to the HDMI or your stuffed.

What motherboard do you have? I take it you are using the onboard soundcard? Does the motherboard have SPDIF out on the rear panel?

Most motherboards from the last few years will have a SPDIF header on the motherboard somewhere, even if they don't have a plug on the back of the computer

Should just be a case of hooking up the internal spdif header to the spdif input on the graphics card

Nope your right. Looks like your only option is the either see if your TV gives the ablitily to change the audio input or get a add in soundcard that has a SPDIF header.
Do you have any slots spare?

NVidia have a hotfix that disables the audio over HDMI and lets you use analog audio again. Google for the file 3D_Vision_Hotfix_DLP_Vista-32bit

Just applying that vista hf to my 7 install now..

here is the article

http://nvidia.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/nvidia.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=2371

When you goto install it, it gives you to the option to enable or diable audio over hdmi.

Man I can't wait til I get my receiver back, so sick of the tinny tv speakers.
